The Government of Taijitu is the set of political bodies and offices responsible for governing the region of Taijitu. The government is arranged according to a pure democracy model, composed of legislative and executive bodies. The heart of this system is the Ecclesia, a legislative body composed of all Taijitu Citizens. The basic structure of this government is defined in the region's constitution, while other details are established both by legal action by the Ecclesia.

Legislative branch

Main articles: Ecclesia

The legislative branch takes the form of a Citizens Assembly known as the Ecclesia. The body consists of all current Citizens of Taijitu. The Ecclesia has the power to create, modify or repeal legislation. They also have the responsibility to vote on all treaties with other regions. The body's primary responsibilities are legislative and it may pass laws by a majority vote. The body may also appoint a Citizen-Mediator if laws are broken. The Ecclesia's business is presided over by a Citizen-Initiator, elected by the Ecclesia by a majority vote every three months.

Executive branch

Main articles: Delegate of Taijitu

The executive branch of Taijitu's government is headed by an elected Citizen-Delegate, who serves as head of executive functions. Elections for the office are held every three months using an majority vote. The Delegate administers the everyday affairs of the government and may negotiate with foreign powers. The Delegate is in charge of the Foreign Service and Liaison Office and may administer these as they see fit as per the Delegacy Act. The office is also unique in being the only one which plays an important role in-game. As the title suggests, the Delegate is entitled to hold the regional delegacy while serving and, within the limits established by the Constitution and tradition, wield all the powers associated with it. The Delegate has a term limit of two consecutive terms.

Elections

All citizens in Taijitu are entitled to exercise power over the government by voting in the Ecclesia. All elections are decided by popular vote. The Citizen-Delegate is elected every three months. The Citizen-Initiator is elected every three months. The Citizen-Sargeant is elected every four months.
