Phoenism (known as Phoenū Yousla in some southern regional languages) is a religion that originated in the north-eastern mountains of The Abode.

With its origins in the E'emorian Loyalist Party and in the Ahrata Valley Civilization, it was founded by Ahfit Aliran who is regarded as the Prophet and the first Prime Abider. Originally a conglomerate of diverse beliefs and traditions, it quickly became a strict policial doctrine with an apocalyptic worldview. It is considered by some of its followers as the world's oldest extant religion, though it wasn't officially established untill 1834. Adherence is mandatory for all citizens of The Abode since 1912.

Phoenism contains a vast body of scriptures. Divided as revealed and remembered and developed over the past two centuries, these scriptures expound on a broad of range of theology, philosophy and mythology, providing spiritual insights and guidance on everyday life and the preperation (abiding) for the next life. Among such texts, Phoenists consider the Khatfir and the Batla as being among the foremost in authority, importance and antiquity. Other major scriptures include the Aliaq and the sectarian Maranen, the Grara and the epic Cueapan and Metemli'i.

Etymology

The term Phoenū comes from the Old E'erian Pheen, i.e. the flamingo bird. The Batla mentions the land of the E'emorians as Sanda Pheen (the land of the two rivers in the northwest, one of them being the Pheeni'i).
