History
The people and culture of Kalonia can trace its roots back to 4000 BCE, through the early Kalon civilizations. Civilization in the valley around there until the northern tribes, then called by the locals the Pagoni, invaded the lands at about 1500 BCE. Enslavement of the local human and nekki population was institutionalized. Control by the tribal-esque Pagoni shown through artwork at the time, distinct by halo-like shining on the heads of those considered pure, and spikes on the heads of those considered unclean.
In 613, according to tradition, Alessia, the first Empress was born in the Verzem province. Birth records have confirmed that a slave named Alessia was born in this exact area at this time. According to religious traditions, Alessia located a book while plowing the fields, took it to an ancient temple, and became one favored from the Gods, becoming a preacher. Historical accounts tell that Alessia lead a large slave rebellion, eventually overthrowing each Pagoni lord. In 636, the Holy Imperium streched a good deal on the continent, ending with the death of Alessia. Alessia's death signaled the end of the first golden age, and resulted to the shrinking of the state to pre-Dixie war boundaries.
The monarchs of the 700s until the 1400s were relatively well known and regarded as good monarchs. The State pushed for religious tolerance to all religions while maintaining the state church. In 1414, Emperor Justin II was deposed by an armed mob of nobility and Nekki citizenry, who enthroned Emperor Kyran I, the first Nekki Emperor. This dynasty was tied to the original Alessian line of monarchs, through Alessia's child Alyssa, the Princess Royal who did not take the throne. The Lovyar Dynasty survived until the death of Oriana in 1577. The lengthy regency of the Ministry survived until the royal appointee became Monarch, the descendant of Justin II. Alice I took the throne on December 5th, 1583.
The nation went through a religious revival in the period of 1617 until 1691, known as the Imperial Revival. Many of the powers delegated to the people vanished and were given back to the Monarch and the nobility. In 1706, the Monarchy was stronger then it was in the days of St. Alessia the Great. The Irovian Monarchs, not even descended from the first Monarch Alessia, were the monarchs leading after a nobility interest took control of the Monarchy. The 1700s are generally regarded as a bad time in the history of Kalonia. A bloodless coup brought the end of the nobility hold on the Monarchy, and power was returned to the people ever so slightly. Soon, the lower elected house had the same rights as the nobility. With the Industrial Revolution in full swing, the state founded several steel plants and other businesses to support its own costs. This would later lead to the domination of the state in the oil and steel businesses.
1893 saw land disputes with nations bordering it, including one port (pending).

Government
The Imperium is a strong constitutional monarchy with a bicameral Parliamentary system, with a Prime Minister elected from the House of Citizens. Elections are held every 5 years for the House of Citizens. If the Citizens have a majority party within the house, the leader of that Party is able to secure the position of Prime Minister with no hindrance, which leads to a Majority Parliament. In the case that this isn't true, the government will be stuck in a "Hung Parliament" if the House of Lords cannot declare a leader.
Parliament
The Parliament of the Imperium is comprised of two separate houses. The lower house is the elected House of Citizens, while the upper house is the appointed-partially elected House of Lords. The Parliament convenes once every two months, while the rest of the time is spent meeting with constituents and perusing other advances.
The House of Lords is made up of 458 members, half of which are comprised of appointed members by the Monarch. 20 are bishops and arch-bishops in the Pantheistic Church, who agree to abstain on votes not concerning themselves or on the wellbeing of the states. These Lords Spiritual also may not be the leaders of the Parliament or in non-religious committees. The speaker of the House of Lords is the Lord Great Chamberlain, who acts as an officiator in the House and a direct liaison to the Monarch. The peers appointed by the Monarch are appointed every 5 years and audited every year in order to determine if they're accurately preforming their duties. The un-appointed peers are done via national election from a list of electors who stand for election. They can be anyone over the age of 18 from any party or from a lack of party.
The House of Citizens is made up of 613 members from across the nation. The members are elected every 5 years. Most of the operations were explained above. A separate election is held to determine the Speaker of the House of Citizens.
The Prime Minister takes office once a majority is reached, and they begin to appoint ministers from here. The current government is as follows:
