The Archduchy of Floresque (Pelagian: Arkduquat de Floresque) is a Novic monarchy centered on the city of Floresque, in northeast Novmir. The duchy was originally founded as a republic in 1541 under the de facto administration of the Pelagian West Ocean Company. After the first stage of the Myrorian invasion of Pelagia, the republic was mostly abandoned by the West Ocean Company, leaving a power vacuum that would be filled by the powerful banking family of House Havelock. The duchy would exist in a state of uneasy alliance with neighboring duchies, until a powerful marriage between Houses Havelock and Pembroke would lead to the formation of the Empire of Novmir and the beginning of the Unification Wars. By the end of the war in 1789, the Havelock-Pembroke dynasty would rule the united region of Novmir, with the Archduchy of Floresque a region of particular wealth and pork-barrel spending.
