History

The Nine Tribes

The Nine Tribes were the various groups of nomads that lived in the area that would become the Cree Confederacy about 10,000. The Nine Tribes were organized into three sub-groups: the Forest Tribes, the Sub-Tropical Tribes and the Coastal Tribes. The three Tribes in the northern Sub-Trpics are the Ganges, the Falbola, Yuni. The four central Forest Tribes are the Xandi, Willows, and the Bors. The two Coastal Tribes are the Don and the Rus. The Tribes moved from place to place, and sometimes came into contact with other tribes. Sometimes it would be peaceful and trade would be involved, but other times, war would happen over space and resources. The Nine Tribes were tribes of warriors and raids were ever so constant. The individual clans were ruled by chiefs and then the larger tribe was ruled by a king or queen that the chiefs elected among themselves. This was the earliest type of democracy in the Cree region.

The First Confederacy and the Unification Wars

The first ever Confederacy was when the Don Tribe and the Rus Tribe signed a treaty called the Act of Confederation in 1923. Diplomats were sent out to the various other tribes so they too could join the Confederacy. The Xandi and the Bors signed the treaty and joined the Confederacy. They created the Cree Constition and the Grand Council where the various chiefs would convene. The Grand Council as their first act was to make the current kings and queens abdicate their thrones. They then declared a member of the Don Tribe as the first ever Emperor of the Confederacy and King of the Four Tribes. The first Emperor was Charles Artorion. The five other tribes felt threatened by this new development. They thought this was an attack on tradition. So the Five Tribes started to attack the Confederate Tribes. the first act of the Confederacy in international affairs was to declare a state of war. The creation of an Imperial Army was passed and the warriors of the Confederate Tribes were brought together as the Imperial Grand Army. The Unification Wars had begun.

The Unification Wars were fought between 1923-1929. The wars themselves cost over ten thousand lives. From the start the Five Tribes had a advantage in numbers, but the Confederate Tribes had better equipment and the more prosporus southern cities. The Unification Wars weren't great large-scale battles, they were cavalry clashes and small numbers of infantry. But the wars were certainly not going in the Five Tribes' favor. In the end the Five Tribes surrendered at the Battle of the Seven Hills, the only large-scale battle. The chiefs handed their power over to the Grand Council and Emperor Charles I. The Five Tribes were welcomed to join the Grand Council and the Emperor was named the King of the Nine Tribes.
