Political Groups in Annexea
Below is an overview of some relevant, and a few irrelevant, "parties". Each party has the following basic information:
Nickname (Good/Bad): Gives a common short name, often pejorative, one used by the party (the Good) and the other used by opponents (the Bad). Main demographics: A list of some major groups of people that support this party. It is not exclusive, nor is it meant to imply that all or even most of that group follow that party. Centers of Support: Where the base of power is for this group. Ideal Government: The government the group promises to create if they were to be in power.

Technocrats
Nickname: [techno backbeat]/Idiots
Main demographics: Druggies with computers
Centers of Support Sparse around Interzone
Ideal Government Technocracy (like anarchy, but set to music)
The Technocrats believe that society should be ruled by Techno dance (NOT technology, it's tech-no-cracy), specifically to the synthesized sounds of techno. It was originally a dance craze, but it became a pseudo-political organization when many began banding together to advocate for anarchy. Anarchists can usually get their support because the technocrats alone would have basically no power. Except the power of dance.
Mugwump Party
Nickname (Good/Bad): /[Censored] Main demographics: Druggies Centers of Support: Central Interzone Ideal Government: They don't know much about that stuff.
This party hopes to "transcend" normal existence, whatever that means, through the use of drugs. Since this is still ectoplasm, this would be better put as "corruption".
Liquefactionists
Nickname: Liquids/[Censored]
Main demographics: Druggies
Centers of Support: Mostly Interzone, minority in Freeland
Ideal Government: Anarchic Soup.
The Liquefactionists advocate an extreme form of Ectoplasm: Everything must be assimilated, with force if necessary, into one giant blob. This is not to say that everything must be homogeneous - they do agree with the tenet of variety in Ectoplasm. But they do not appreciate the Ectoplasmicon as a political leader, nor do they appreciate the sprawling bureaucracy that controls society. They are, in a sense, a combination of Ectoplasm and Anarchy. They especially emphasize a loss of individuality, which puts them at odds with most of the economy.
Free Love Party
Nickname: Lovers/[Censored]
Main demographics: Druggies
Centers of Support: Bassa, northern Interzone
Ideal Government: They don't know much about that stuff.
The goal of the Free Love Party is, simply put, hedonism. They advocate massive government spending on drugs and related "activities", and being high and having large scale drug orgies often. They have interesting campaign events, to say the least. As much as Annexeans love drugs, most do not appreciate this extreme, nor do they appreciate the implied positive spin. They gain support through their actions, not so much through their arguments, which generally sound like "Whooooa........."
Factualists
Nickname: Factualists/Fascists
Main demographics: Military, Subsidized Business Owners
Centers of Support: Freeland, central-east Interzone
Ideal Government: Authoritarian
The Factualists believe that the bureaucracy is a waste of resources and time, and it is necessary to centralize it to create better consistency and more effective enforcement. They have some support from businesses because of promise to make economic regulations more sane, at least for government controlled business. The Factualists hold that foreign policy is important, and a "united" Annexea is important in the international community.
The Neo-Bureaucrats
Nickname: Bureaucrats/Paper-Pushers
Main demographics: Bureaucrats, Middle Aged
Centers of support: Throughout Interzone, Qezzef [esp. northern]
Ideal Government: Accountable Bureaucracy
The Neo-Bureaucrats believe in the bureaucratic system of Annexea but seek some reforms to make it be more accountable. They advocate for a better records system, less redundant communication, and more. Their greatest concern is with the "absorption" method of bureaucratic appointment; They call for a meritocratic system or at least one in which the people may choose to participate. This, they argue, would make bureaucracy run better by having better staff.
The Democratic Party
Nickname: Democrats/Socialists
Main demographics: Young College graduates, some College students, 'Kero independence activists
Main centers of support: Qezzef, Interzone [near the Maw]
Ideal Government: Representative Democracy
Emboldened by awareness of other democratic nations of the world, this party has begun a quiet, but sustained campaign for greater representation. They believe that the Annexean bureaucracy must be held accountable by the people.
The Anarcho-Democrats
Nickname (Good/Bad): Adems [sounds like "'ate 'ems"]/Leeches [as fringe democrats]
Main demographics: Students, some small business owners
Main centers of support: East Bassa, North-Central Interzone
Ideal Government: "Pure" Democracy
The Anarcho-Democrats are a fusion of the democratic philosophy that is a reaction to the sprawling Annexean bureaucracy, and the libertarian belief in freedom. They are considered the far left wing of the Democratic supporters. They advocate for a very decentralized government and having most affairs decided through referenda or town meeting (imagining this gives a good sense of the "anarchy" part).
Ectoplasm
Nickname (Good/Bad): /Useless Main demographics: Varies. Strongest support among the young, not college educated, and the elderly. Centers of Support: Interzone, Freeland, parts of Bassa
This term is not really an organized group of supporters, describing the opinion which favors the "status quo". Though largely apolitical, these people will stand against those who seek to create political change. This group is also the "status quo" itself; hence the lack of a "catchy" label - it's assumed until you believe otherwise.
