The Canal Takasia is a large artificial canal in Takasia. It is 350 km long and 800m wide, and runs between Venezea on Trouthind Channel and Milanou on Mediterranean Sea.
The canal allows year-round transportation from the peninsula to the Mediterranean Sea and Far East without circumventing the continent via Tagirstan and Feniexia, which is frozen during winter months; or via Varkour in the south.
The canal is the the longest in Takasia and is 100% owned by Takasia Canal A.G..
The Construction
In the first year of construction, an ancient city (Firenzea) related to the people of New History lovers were unearthed. The found has halted the construction process for six months.
To catch up with the schedule, the Takasia government issued the "Arveoli Development Decree", attracting extra labour by granting land to construction workers. By the completion of the canal, there were more than 12,000 foreign workers. mainly from New Delfos, the Mercantilist States and Tagirstan.
Trivia
The influx of male workers had created a boom in the sex industry, so much that the government offered incentives to attract sex workers to work in Arveoli. The sex workers unexpectedly made the cities tourist magnets, and Milanou a fashion centre.
