It was originally stablished in the wake of the Novic Civil War as part of a program of asserting the control of the imperial government and national unity. Since then it has accumulated a vast number of faculties, and is often regarded as one of the world's most prestigious schools. The Academy's motto, "prefer harsh truth to dear illusion," appears on the coat of arms in the Novic alphabet.
