Any citizen of Taijitu can potentially become a Senator. As defined by the Constitution, any citizen who has held citizenship for 15 days can apply to become a [[Senator]]. They are however subject to a review by the incumbent Senate and confirmation by a majority vote, and once they have the office can be removed by a majority vote as well.

The Senate presently consists of seven senators, the default number ordained by the constitution. They are elected at large every seven weeks, with the most recent election having been held in June of 2010.
As per the Constitution the Senate determines its own rules of conduct, which are largely defined by the [[Internal Procedures of the Senate]].  Those portions of Senate business for which no formal legislation exists are left in an unofficial capacity to be decided by the discretionary authority of the Speaker.
