The '''Archduchy of Floresque''' ([[Pelagian language|Pelagian]]: '''Arkduquat de Floresque''') is a [[Novic]] monarchy centered on the city of Floresque, in northeast Novmir. The duchy was originally founded as a republic in 1541 under the ''de facto'' administration of the Pelagian West Ocean Company. After the first stage of the [[Myrorian invasion of Pelagia]], the republic was mostly abandoned by the West Ocean Company, leaving a power vacuum that would be filled by the powerful banking family of [[House Havelock]]. The duchy would exist in a state of uneasy alliance with neighboring duchies, until a powerful marriage between Houses Havelock and Pembroke would lead to the formation of the [[Empire of Novmir]] and the beginning of the Unification Wars. By the end of the war in 1789, the Havelock-Pembroke dynasty would rule the united region of Novmir, with the Archduchy of Floresque a region of particular wealth and pork-barrel spending.
